Nice hotel in 7th near Motte Piquet metro stop. Staff very friendly, rooms small but nicely decorated, breakfast was very good but have to pay 14 euros!

Very convenient for main city tourist area and train station, well maintained, with acceptable breakfast (bit more fresh fruit would have been nice). As non smokers found that rooms smelt of smoke and had to change first room which was overpowering, staff were fine on this with no issues. Bit souless but for cleanlness price and location don't believe that will find a better option. Would reccommend to a friend

BEST IS LOCATION, CENTRAL BUT NOT TOO NOISY, AND ROOMS DIMENSIONS, SPACIOUS AND VERY CLEAN. PEOPLE NOT PARTICULARLY KIND, AND BREAKFAST MINIMAL. REALLY GOOD QUALITY VERSUS PRICE. WE RECOMMEND IT FOR SURE.

Room was nice and comfortable, though a bit sterile, with a non-descript view of an airshaft and roofs. Surroundings are in the commercial district close to the Grand Place. It was thrumming with activity. Continental breakfast had good variety. Overall a good value for the $$.

Out of 5 hotels used for my trip, only one was above average, the Ibis chain, interestingly enough the only one that I did not book through the internet but I found on my own while looking in Paris. It all started well but deteriorated rapidly. The worst was that after using the water for a minute, a sewer smell permeated the whole place. I asked the hotel to fix this to no avail. I stayed 4 nights with the smell of shit in my nostrils. Of course when I asked to be compensated because they could never fix this they could not. However I could write to the owner which was not readily available (does this surprise anyone?. I will be filing a complaint shortly. They gave me a "family" room (read duplex) and the stairs were very short and narrow. I'm a 8 shoe size and half of my foot was sticking out of the steps. The bathroom was upstairs and it was dangerous to use the toilet in the middle of the night due to being half asleep.

Our first stay at the Aris Grand Place was great; quiet rooms, very friendly and competent staff. Not so this time. The staff were unfriendly, aloof and condescending. Our tv didn't work properly; we requested to have it either fixed or replaced; our request was ignored and on the last night of our stay we were finally told it was working fine; that volume level was set that way (extremely loud at night) which of course isn't true. Very unfriendly manager. The room was not as quiet as the first time at all. When we requested to move to a quieter room after the first night of very bad sleep the manager angrily and dismissively said "You should have told us earlier; now it's impossible. Everything is booked." He was very unfriendly and not helpful at all. At €130 a night (summer rates), I definitely think it wasn't worth the money, not with this type of service and quite a few things that either didn't work well (faulty shower head wet most of the bathroom floor, for example; the safe was really not very safe at all; it was about to crack open). The only good thing was the breakfast: very good. All things considered, I doubt I would stay there again.

We visited February 2007.An ideal hotel for the sightseer in Brussels, very close to many good restaurants, the central square and the main railway station. Double room smallish but adequate with a good sized bathroom, very quiet and clean and a very good price through Venere for central Brussels. Good buffet breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

If you want to be near vibrant Grand Place, then this is the hotel to be in. Very reasonable, good quality, and on the road next to the Grand Place. Would definitely stay again.

The Aris' siuation at 78-80 Rue Marché aux Herbes is just about as close to the centre of Brussels as you could want. Grand Place is just around the corner - Brussels Central station is less than five minutes' walk away. Over the years, I have stayed in a number of Brussels hotels of a similar class - this is amongst the best and offers particularly good value for money. The hotel is modern and simply but tastefully decorated. Although the rooms are fairly small, they are more than adequate for a long weekend or a brief business trip. We enjoyed the inclusive buffet breakfast. One warning for new visitors - not about the hotel but about restaurants in the neighbourhood. The Rue des Bouchers just behind the hotel full of restaurants. You are bound to find your way to it - and to be accosted when walking along it by the barkers offering their generally overpriced meals to all passers-by. Sadly, the stiff competition has not led to a lifting in quality. This is lowest common denominator Belgian cuisine; it is an insult to a country that boasts amongst the best culinary standards in the world. Avoid them. Look instead a little further afield. Two possibilities are L'Ogenblick (just off the Galeries St Hubert to the left of the hotel) and T'Kelderke (situated in a cellar on the Grand Place itself). One tip for those travelling from London by Eurostar. Although the destination shown on the ticket is Bruxelles Midi, it is valid to and from any SNCB railway station in Belgium - the outward coupon for the 24 hours following arrival at Gare du Midi and the return coupon for the 24 hours preceding departure from there. We took advantage of this to go on a day trip to Liege. You might like to use it to visit other historic towns such as Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent.

The hotel is ideally situated 5 minutes walk (downhill) from the Central station. Eurostar travellers note that the Eurostar arrives at Brussels Midi (Zuid) station. You can get a train to the Central station quite easily (one stop away) – try to avoid getting a taxi from Midi to Central as it will cost you about 4 times a train ticket. The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Grand Place and about 5 minutes from Rue des Bouchers – the famous street for restaurants. Plus points of the room: a safe and an immaculate bathroom. Downside: The breakfast was included but mediocre and noise outside in the alley next to the hotel at about midnight. All in all a really good hotel for a 3-star; slightly on the expensive side, but considering its location I would say it is worthwhile.

It was a very nice hotel in the middle of the old town of Brussels. Short distance to all our tourist needs. The rooms were very nice but a little small. The accomodation and the service were both very satisfactory. When we go to Brussels next time this will be a nice place to stay.

Good hotel in central location. Slight shortage of staff for serving breakfast. One of our group was mugged at 1am 100yards from the hotel and ended up in hospital badly beaten up with a broken wrist and 4 stitches to the eye. The night porter looked after him and helped arrange transfer to hospital. The muggers drove up in a car and offered to sell him a mobile phone before jumping out and attacking him. Be careful walking around Brussels at night - don't go alone, eventhough this Hotel is very central beware of the danger.

The location of this hotel and price cannot be faulted. Coffee was available free of charge in the lobby throughout the day. The rooms were a decent size and very clean (cleaned daily on our stay). The only fault I can find with the hotel is the sound proofing. The noise from the street outside was very intrusive (all night and morning) even after large quantities of belgian beer. Other than that - excellent quality for money

Fantastic location! We were only in Brussels for 2 nights and loved being right in the heart of the city without breaking the bank. No trains, buses or taxis were needed at all! It's on a busy pedestrian street but the corner room we had overlooking the street on the fourth floor was very quiet.
