We were surprised to find such a good quality hotel for that price in a calm side-street. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and we can recommend it absolutely.

It was kind of hard to fall asleep there because the bed linen smelled like mould. And they didn't change it - even after the second desperate request (it was a 3 nights stay). The building facade seems to be on the point of collapse - that's why its picture is blurred.

stayed with my boyfriend in this hotel for 5 nights, such a cool lil neighbourhood with local cafe/bar right across street from hotel, you should visit it the food is good and nice vibe. hotel staff were lovely and friendly and room was good size, very minimal but comfy. loved the area as you felt like you were living like a local and was easy to get around and walk to pompidou in 20 mins, would definitely stay again

The hotel located quite near to the metro station so it was convenient for travellers to go for sightseeing. The room was not big but the bathroom was spacious and very clean. The employees were very nice and helpful. The only deficiency I noted was the lift which was extremely small and noisy. However, since the hotel was in promotion during my stay, the hotel had a quite high quality compared to the price. I strongly recommend the hotel to travellers if it provides good price.

Friendly hotel with pleasant and helpful staff and easy access to central Paris - nearest Metro station about 3 minutes walk away. Room was small but this is only to be expected in a Paris 2-star. Bed was comfortable and hotel reasonably quiet, in a side street; there was some noise from a nearby bar but this did not go on that late.

All in all the hotel is quite pleasant, especially if you compare your location and the price. Really close to everything. 2 Negatives though: - Bathroom was really small and cramped, minute actually. - Breakfast was rubbish(especially when they charge 7.50 for it and then use the cheapest quality food too). Seriously, you are better off going to a cafe or supermarket down the road. Metro is very close to hotel, very convenient.

Siamo stati all'International 5 notti in agosto 2008. 53 euro a notte: rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo davvero.

We got off at Republic metro station (as was suggested on the website), but no one seemed to know where the hotel was. Just go down Rue du Faubourg du Temple and turn right at Parmentier Ave. and rue Auguste Barbier is a few blocks down on the right. The room was clean and spacious enough by Paris standards. There was no air conditioning, but it was not hot, even though we were there in July. We left the huge windows (which opened up onto a roof) open at night. We weren't sure how safe this was. The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. We found the location to be good. It was a good walk to the left bank, but we were also near a few metro lines so it was convenient. At the Palace of Versailles, we had to wait in line for 1 hour. If you can buy your ticket ahead somewhere in Paris, do so to avoid the lineup. If you like art and architecture, the Musee D'orsay is wonderful.

Ottimo giudizio complessivo

Stay was a couple of days' leisure before a 2-day business meeting. It was hot, so the lack of AC was felt - windows were kept wide open. Room and bathroom were very clean. No shower curtain so showering was a bit splashy, and no plug in sink. Breakfast was plentiful compared to some continental hotels. Salami was looking a bit tired after a few days. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Wireless internet was available for a token charge in the (small) ground-floor lounge. Several good bars and restaurants in the area (e.g. renowned Le Chateaubriand on Ave Parmentier, just round corner)

excellent location to access all areas of paris. Around the corner from Goncourt underground station and a short, comfortable walk from Republique which provides easy and direct transport to Charles de Gaulle airport. At least 4 supermarkets nearby, laundrette, internet, phones, resturants, fruitmarkets, passitiers, brasseries, bank, cash machine, park all within a block around the hotel. We choose not to each breakfast at the hotel because we could get a great cappucino and beautiful fresh pastries nearby, costing less than the hotel breakfast. The room/bathroom( decent shower) was big in comparison to other accomodate we saw in Paris. Arrived early Saturday, the hotel stored our lugaged so that we could start exploring, they also stored our lugaged at the end of our trip as we were leaving in the evening. All the staff spoke English and sere very helpful. Would stay again

The hotel was very basic. The twin room was pretty small and there was not much space for luggage or clothes. The staff were pleasant. The sheets were clean but the blankets looked a bit suspect. For the price I would have expected a little more. For example, breakfast to be included.

Rooms are clean but as austere (except for the tiny hospital-style tv) as a Carthusian Monk's cell. Only TV channels available are in French -- no CNN or BBC. Fresh flowers in window-boxes on the front rooms are a nice touch. Staff are friendly in the crusty Parisian manner. The 1 euro coffee machine in the lobby is welcome. Safe fee is 2 euro per day. Internet fee of 2 euro for entire stay is a bargain.

The staff at Hotel International were very friendly and helpful. As several have mentioned it is a traditional, small Parisian hotel (small rooms, elevator, etc.). We passed on the breakfast, and got croissants on our way in. Location is very near the Goncourt Metro station. There are few stairs (no escalator) at this stop, but it is a good bit closer to the hotel. We took the RER train in from the airport to Chatelet, and then to the Metro to Goncort. We purchased the carnet of tickets and took the Metro everywhere during our 4 day stay. There is a small grocery very near by for basics, and little larger one about 3 blocks away. We ate at a nice little Couscous place the first day there, and there are several other little cafes and restaurants in the area. The only real issues were the noises from neighboring rooms, that were pretty loud. We had a little noise from the neighborhood pub late in the evenings as well. The internet connection was very unstable, and made it difficult to do any real online work, and was barely adequate for a quick email download. Overall, it was as advertised, and served our purposes just fine, but nothing fancy.
Canada, Jun 2008
Stayed 3 nights early June. Very clean, small and quiet. Great home base for exploring the city. Many cheap places to eat shop and drink nearby. Internet access around the corner. Goncourt metro 75 feet away. Not in the heart of the tourist spots but a great insight into how the french live. Highly recommended especially for the price. Took a cab to charles degaulle airport. 35 euro for three people plus 5 euro for bags, about 20 min drive. Beats carrying bags on Metro (crowded).

It's hard to rate this due to different expectations in Paris. The price was good for Paris but the room is small, the cable channels provided are limited, and the room has a weird separation of the toilet and the shower. It was close to Metro stops and as long as you only consider it a place to sleep, then the room will be fine. But while Paris is romantic, this room certainly is not.

Buon viaggio.

I stayed here with my husband and 8 year-old daughter. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I spoke French and English with them without any difficulties. The hotel has an elevator and stairs. We were in a 3 bed room near the elevator. Noise was not bad at all. The room was definitely large enough for us. The only negative is that no shower curtain is provided, so you have to be careful when showering. Otherwise, the hotel is wonderful and in a great location. Great shopping and restaurants nearby and easy access to metro lines. We'd definitely stay there again and explore the area nearby a bit more.

Before I booked this hotel, I checked Venere.com and the internet for a long time for a place with a good price/benefit-ratio. This hotel was recommended by many Venere-users and after I have stayed there for 3 nights, I also can recommend this place. The personnel was really nice and helpful, especially when I complained about the noise in a neighbouring room (the walls are "paper-thin"...that is the only thing, I have to complain about). Since the hotel is in a side-street, you can leave the window open (little noise from outside). The rooms are small (but that's normal for Paris) but clean (especially the bathrooom). The mattress was clean but could have been changed (it felt like "sleeping in a hole", but was o.k.). The hotel is very close to a Metro station and cafés are nearby. There is even a little supermarket located just a block away, which is open 24hrs and is convenient, when you want to buy a quick snack or somehting to drink. Close to the metro (across the street) there is a nice backery where you can buy baguettes with cheese and meat (very tasty!). Overall, this hotel is a good choice! If you look for thicker walls, you probably need to check in a 4-star (or higher) hotel....

I was staying 1 level above ground and it was always quiet. You can hear foot steps because my room was right by the stairway, but when I walk I made lots of noise myself - it cannot be helped. It was only around maybe 7-8am and 8-10pm when people come and leave the hotel. If you liked the movie Amelie - you will recognise the canal Amelie skimmed stones over on the way to Republic from the hotel - It is an interesting walk up to the Republic but you should use Goncourt which is 2 min away, and to get to Notre dame, the station Hotel de Ville and Pompidou, Rambuteau. You dont necessarily have to be running around changing lines all the time. Staff were all friendly and spoke good English. I am a young female on my own and felt comfortable and safe there. I got a double room at no extra cost too. Personal Bathroom and toilet but are separate so if you are travelling with another, when one is in toilet you can go shower and neednt wait. You will only complain about the size of the room if you have never been to Paris or Rome etc, or if you are used to 4-5 star travel. Even the 3 star ones I've been to are the same size - small. They have wireless internet which is only 2euros for your entire stay.

Great value for money as our rooms were really spacious and had a large bathroom which is unusual for budget Paris hotels. The location was ok, the actual hotel is on a nice quiet street but we didn't find the place easily as the directions given weren't very clear. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Although it's not as central as some locations, it's a five minute walk from the metro (goncourt station - not the republique stop which is not 150m away as quoted, more like 1000m!)

We've stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. It has great location (it took around 20-30 minutes to walk to the Cite insel and to the Montmartre). And the staff tries to do its best with the facilities it has. Facilities are rather poor though - I would be greately disappointed if we had to pay their "usual" price of 75 euro per night for the room we stayed in. Perhaps the renovated rooms are better, I can't judge on this. Still they are extremely small and when we first arrived there was some unusual smell (though everything was rather clean). Another good thing about the hotel is that there are several food stores (including Fran Prix and Ed), many cafes and an automatic laundry very close to it. Warning: hotel lists wifi for 2 euros, but the connection is horrible - we could barely send two short letters. Bottom line is: for around 42 euros per night it's a great base for a tourist trip to the Paris, since it's location is fabulous. But if you want to enjoy the hotel, I suppose this price range is anyway not the one you'll be looking into ;)

I had a great stay at this hotel, I chose it after reading such great reviews and was really glad I did despite a few little minor issues. Reception staff are really genuinely friendly and helpful, always a hello or goodbye and a smile which I've never encountered before in a parisian hotel...I requested a superior room and paid an extra 60 euro for the entire stay. I didnt bother with breakfast, ate out instead as I believe it is overpriced and not the best..The room was small but clean, a little shabby but it didnt bother me at all, my bed was so comfy I didnt want to get out of it in the mornings which says a lot. There was an open pipe just above my shower head which i thought a little odd but shower itself was fab, lots of pressure but no shower curtain.. Metro station Goncourt is literally a 1 min walk from the hotel so its really easy to get around, you can be in the Louvre in max 8 mins. The area itself was great, lovely restaurant around the corner called Zac and 5 mins away a really busy area, lots of great bars, restaurants and deli type places, I am so looking forward to going back. I've stayed in 4*s previously in the more prominent tourist areas and this is by far the best place I've stayed as in overall area, amentites and value for money..Saw inside several standard rooms and they looked no diff to the superior one, maybe a slightly smaller bathroom..The lift is hilarious, had to mention it, it is so so small I have never seen anything like it in my life.. you really wouldnt want to be in there with a stranger as you would be sitting on top of each other, I spent my time in there praying it wouldnt break down..The one thing I feel that could easily be inproved on is the public areas within the hotel, reception area and the ground flr bathroom excluded when coming down the stairs there are sheets, buckets & cleaning products etc simply lying around, sometimes on the actual stairs and it looks awful not to mention dangerous, this is a small thing and it

Very good hotel in a central area. Metro Goncourt is just few steps from the hotel. The welcoming with Alexej was great! The room was very small but clean and with a big window. The staff was very helpful. Only one things: we asked the metro stop to reach Place Vendome and the guy at the front desk said: "Je ne connais pas Place Vendome!"-"I don't know Place Vendome!"...for us was a little bit strange because it's one of the most famous square in the world!!! Anyway...we had a problem in the airport and our flight was cancelled because the wind was very strong. We call back at the hotel and we stayed another night there. Thank also to Mrs Winken. This was our first trip to Paris and to be honest all we were really after was a relatively cheap, central and clean base from which to explore the city. Couldn't fault the International on any of those. The room was very small and quite basic as was the bathroom but it was quiet and clean and suited our purposes just fine. The hotel is in a quiet little lane and is a 2 minute walk to Goncourt metro stop which will get you to Hotel De Ville in a few minutes. Very handy. Around the doors there's not a great deal to see but a quick mention for the pub across the road, the Caravan, top notch. Good tunes good times. I'd recommend the International and would probably stay there again.

The staff was very nice. The hotel was clean. There is a convenience store nearby. We found a really nice restaurant within walking distance. The room was small but there was plenty of room for our luggage and to hang clothes. There was even a dining table and two chairs. We had a room with two twin beds. There was no shower curtain so that was a little awkward. There was no view, only other windows and a rooftop. I recommend ordering the breakfast in advance. There are no places open in the morning close by, unless you just want to grab something at a bakery and go to a smokey coffee bar. They prepare food in the hotel based on a pre-reserved number of guests. The price was right for the accommodations and I definitely would stay there again.

The rooms are much better than others I've seen in Paris: they are big enough for two people and the bathroom is fine too. For the price we paid, this hotel exceeded our expectations.

Very easy to reach hotel, extremely helpful, welcoming (and good looking too!) staff. Rooms clean. Near place de la Republique, so a lot of public transport- Recommended!

It is a small hotel, and the rooms are a bit small, the lift is very small (only for 2 people and luggage or three people), but it is clean and it is one of the few places in Paris where the staff go out of their way to be nice and helpful, even managed to get a taxi to the airport for me during the strike! It was fairly quiet at night as it is on small side street, they are doing renovations, but they never started the noise before 10am as far as I can tell. Good access to the métro, Goncourt was closest, but République was close as well, which is good if you have luggage so you don't have to deal with all the staircases of the Métro changing lines. Belleville is within okay walking distances as well, which I needed because it had one of the few lines that was going during the strike. There is loads to do if you want night out near Répubilique, there are more restautants that way as well.

The staff was very kind and hospitable. We arrived late (after midnight) and yet they we're very accommodating. The elevator is small (for 3 people) but I've stayed in hotels with no elevators at all so this was still helpful. The room for 3 was comfortable with the single bed in an area separated by a wall. The shower had strong hot and cold water and the bathroom had a blowdrier! They have wifi if you have your own laptop and they are literally a 3 minute walk to the Goncourt stop of line 11 and a 2 minute walk to a minimart. For the price we paid (EUR25 per person a night) it was a very good hotel.

I booked a single room and got a double for the same price. Very kind staff, clean rooms, very small elevator so nothing for oversized folks! Close to the metro and not far from the center and tourist attractions, cheap restaurants and minimarkets closeby.TV. I would take it again!

Hotel is VERY basic and a little shabby. Tiny baths with no place for toiletries. Nonetheless, it is a quiet location and an interesting neighborhood. Metro access ideal. Staff were very nice and helpful.

I THINK IT WAS VERY GOOD, RECEPTIONIST CAN SPEAK ENGLISH, ARABIC ,ITALIAN, rooms are small but enough to stay comfortable , clean bathrooms but small a very small closet,i went in winter rooms were heated, area was ok. the nearest mitro is about 2 minuets walking and then you should change to go for bigger mitro stations. i think it was good in compare with price, i would stay again

Our twin room was cramped but the bathroom was very big and clean. The only problem with noise was from other guests in the corridors/stairwells but our window overlooked a quiet internal courtyard. Friendly staff and a good price for central-ish Paris. I wouldn't recommend the area to a single female traveller - the walk from the metro though short and on a busy street is not a particularly nice area. Overall: good for the price, particularly at short notice over Easter weekend.

Hotel is very practical for travelers who do not stay in the room along the day, and only use the hotel for a place to sleep in. The room we had was very small, almost as the size of the bed itself, and the bathroom was tiny. The room had a closet though, TV with french channels only, a desk and chair. The thing that bothers the most though, is the hotel's location, which is not a great one, although near the metro station Goncourt, you almost always need two trains for every destination. Needless to say there are no options for a night out around the hotel... I would add a bit more money for a hotel in better surroundings.

Sehr gute, recht ruhige Lage. Kompetente, entgegenkommende Mitarbeiter am Empfang.

Much, much too expensive for the area of the city and for the quality of the structure. The staff was very friendly though.

Zielsetzung: sehr empfehlenswert !!

Reasonable hotel for the price paid. Pretty much as expected. The manager at the reception desk was very helpful and had very good english. No problems or surprises whatsoever. A bit far from paris centre, but very close to a metro station, from which, all attractions can be accessed, most by 2 metro rides.

This was my fourth trip to Paris, but the first time I stayed in the Canal St. Martin area. The International is a nice little hotel, with clean rooms and friendly reception. It's close to a metro station, a short walk to Place de la Republique and is in an up and coming area of the city. There are lots of small bistros in the neighbourhood to choose from as well as a number of international restaurants owing to the large number of immigrants in this area. For some reason, the sidestreets seem to be a hub for wholesale/retail clothing and shoe sales. Good prices for non-designer stuff.

Good location (close to the Goncourt subway station, quiet area, not far from the center), very good price, small but clean room, what more do you need if you really want to visit the city of lights, not to spend most time indoors? Breakfast should include some ham/bacon/eggs, it is.... too sweet for most people's taste!

I normally stay in another hotel near the Champs de Mars which is both cheaper and better. Having said that I have no complaints about this hotel. It was in a very quiet street only a short distance from a Metro station. The management and staff were friendly and helpful.
