Great location, a very short walk to Ufizzi. Owner was very warm and hospitable. The hotel used to be part of a 10th century monastery, which gives it beautiful character. Room was big but bathroom was a bit too small (although that wasn't a major problem). Breakfast is pastry and coffee/juice at the nearby cafe. Overall pleasant experience.

Hotel was perfect for price and location. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. The only small downfall is the noise outside. but if you don't mind sleeping in untill 9 or 10, or a heavy sleeper, place is perfect.

As a female who stayed alone, I felt very safe at the Cristina. The room was very clean and the sink in the room was much appreciated, since the common bathrooms were down the hall near the reception area (although this worked out fine). The location is perfect and close to everything, and although they don't have internet there are several internet points nearby.

La habitación era muy amplia y la zona muy buena pero: EL EXTRACTOR DE OLORES DEL BAÑO ESTABA MUY SUCIO CON MUCHO POLVO ACUMULADO, CON LO QUE ME PROVOCÓ UNA REACCIÓN ALÉRGICA, Y YO NO SOY ALÉRGICO AL POLVO PERO ERA MUY MUY SUCIO.

Hotel Christina is fairly basic accomodation but spacious and clean. We loved being in an ancient building with frescos on the bedroom wall and hearing the musicians playing in the Piazza della Signoria in the evenings from our room! It did mean a climb up the stairs to the rooms and the streets outside were never silent but we did feel in the heart of Florence which is what we wanted. Not for those who want peace and quiet, modern facilities or those who can't do stairs. The owners were so friendly and welcoming and it was no problem that our Italian is limited. No breakfast being provided was not a problem as there are so many places to eat, even early. The fridge in the room was helpful. We took advice from other reviews and were ready to pay cash for our stay which was appreciated. The train station is about 15mins walk away but it was very easy to find the hotel. It looks just like the photos! We would love to return and have already recommended it to lots of friends.

THERE ARE BEDBUGS AT THIS HOTEL. MY DAUGHTER AND I SPENT ONE NIGHT HERE AND HAD TO BE TREATED FOR SKIN MITES IN THE SAME WAY THAT YOU WOULD TREAT LICE. YES, MANY BOTTLES OF RID LATER AND THE BUGS ARE GONE, BUT NOT THE TRAUMA. BATHROOM WAS ALSO FILTHY. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!

Cristina is one of the least expensive hotels in Florence. Only 100m from the "Piazza della Signora" it could not be located more centrally. The rooms are clean, the beds of good quality and the sisters running the hotels do a good job. There is only one negative thing to mention: The windows wouldn't stop noise from coming in and so the rooms are quite loud.

I would recomend Cristina only for the excellent localization and I suppose you pay for it. You don´t need any transport as you are able to get everywhere by foot. Rather than a Hotel looks like a room renting private house , in a narrow street. There is no confort to stay in the room other than sleeping. The frontdoor is much smaller than the pictures display.

This hotel was nice and the staff did speak English. The only problem was that when we were ready to check out the lady wanted cash not a credit card. This was at the end of our trip and the American Express office was not open so I could not get my travelers checks cashed. She was not very pleasant when she found out I was paying with the credit card, even though the web site said they accepted cards. No lift, so people that would have trouble with stairs might want to stay somewhere else.

we complained about the noise from the street and from other guests in the late night. Our problem - we should not have selected a one star. The bed was unsatisfactory. With a bad back, one needs sufficient back support - not a cot with springs and a thin mattress. Also, the chair in the corner had a bad seat, so it was diffcult to sit on unless one put a pillow there.

this was atypical pensione, where it was a great location and a decent room. the place was large, clean and terrifically located which is all we wanted. it's no frills but priced well. the only thing bad was either it had mosquitoes or bed bugs.

Really nice room in a great location, super nice women who run it. The drawbacks are that there is no airconditiong, not even a cirlular fan. We had to leave the windows open or it was stiflingly hot, but then the noise was unbearable, actually it was loud even when we closed the windows, so not a decent wink of sleep our two nights there. In cooler weather and more off-season it might be OK.

Nice modest room and great for the price. I would return. On the downside, two flights of stairs with heavy luggage is a chore. Salvatore will try to take the luggage but don't let him! Only afterward, when he was huffing and puffing did he tell me that he has a pacemaker! The location for the hotel is terrific for the historical district. The hotel is farther from the train station then appears on the website and the directions definitely need to be clarified. Once you know where it is its OK but still some ways from the station.

Bathroom included a toilet, which, because of size of bathroom was actually in the shower. Shower curtain had to be pulled away from toilet and water splattered onto toilet. Because of location of hotel (near Uffizi Gallery and square) was noisy even with windows shut. Windows opened onto quaint narrow cobbled street which was nice. Hotel situated near lots of sites, but quite a distance from railway station if you walk. Expensive if you take a taxi.

The hotel is easy to find , the staff are nice people and the place is clean. I have requested a quiet room prior to our arrival and we got it. This hotel is located in the centre of the main tourist attractions in Firenze (Florence), Italy and the price is not bad if you are looking for a budget hotel. I would recommend this to our friends and for sure I would book to this place again in our next visit. Couple from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

When I booked this accomodation in Florence (through venere.com) I had heavily relied on the feedback provided by the previous travelers of their stay in Cristina. It turned out my stay at Cristina turned out be far beyond my expectations. I was traveling with my wife and two children (11 and 4 years) and everything was perfect, including an excellent location (next to Ufizi gallery) and very friendly owners (two sisters). The 15 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella station was as described in their email directions, the street on which the hotel is located has excellent eating and shopping places and staying in the hotel was a truly trip down the Florence's rich cultural history. One minor downside is the bathroom. It is a little bit old fashioned but what the heck you are in Florence and getting ready in this quaint bathroom is an expierence in itself.

While the location of the hotel is perfect-- right in the center of the pedestrian zone-- if you are not a heavy sleeper and you end up in one of the rooms facing the street, you will be awakened every night by the sound of drunken students of a variety of nationalities. Still, this is a sweet place-- our bathroom had the remnants of a fresco on the ceiling-- and the two sisters that run it are welcoming. Just make sure to bring your earplugs.

We are glad to have upgraded to a bathroom with the room. I would recommend this. The towels provided with the room were a bit musty and they may need to buy new ones. The hotel is in a great location, nearby the Uffizi. Fery the receptionist was really helpful. Good place for the price.

Our stay at the Cristina Hotel in Firenze was wonderful. It was centrally located and close to everything. It is a lovely and simple hotel run by two sisters who are very welcoming and hospitable. We had room #4 which I believe is the largest room and also had its own bathroom. Would definitely stay here again because of its location and the friendliness of the owners.

The room, the service and the location were wonderful. The proprietress was especially helpful and went above and beyond expectations to help us with travel arrangements when leaving. Don't let the initial stairway/hall into the building turn you off, the rooms which were in the upper floor were worth the climb and delightfully comfortable.

I would highly recommend this property for anyone staying in Florence. Actually, I did recommend it to a couple that I bumped into a few days after staying there. The owner and her sister were very hospitable, a joy to talk to. The rooms were very spacious, the largest we saw in Italy. We also liked that our room had a sink and mirror inside the room even though we paid for a shared bath. Also, the location couldn't have been better. Just a few blocks away are all the major sights.

It is in a perfect location in Florence where you can walk everywhere. The rooms are clean and the price was right. The fact that the room was small was not a problem, as we were looking for clean and reasonably priced accommodations and the Christina fit the bill. My only criticism was our mattress was terrible because it dipped in the middle. The two sisters that operate the hotel are very nice and make you feel very welcome and comfortable.

The bed seemed old and the room was a bit run down. I thought the bathroom, although functional, could use a remodel. Perhaps the hotel is too close to the action. The noise outside of my room was loud (like an american frat party) until 3 or 4 AM. Probably shouldn't have visited Florence in July. At around 5 AM the street sweeper or sewage-sucker came by and a nasty odor came into my room. Good morning! Bottom line...very close to 'the action' but a pretty average place...

Hotel is very convenient to the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, and Pitti Palace & Boboli Gardens. Very gracious and helpful hostess. Charming room; not huge, but I was not shopping for huge - it exceeded expectations and was completely satisfactory. Exterior photograph does justice to the exterior but not to the interior. Hotel is on a narrow street and is inconspicuous until you know where it is. There is some street noise during the late evening and early morning, but should not bother any but the extremely finicky.

This is a wonderful place to stay, it is full of old world charm and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This hotel is rated as 1 star but is better than many 2-3 star hotels I have stayed in. We had a very large room with private bathroom. Our room was exceptionally large, clean and bright. The staff were very helpful and polite and understanding of our terrible Italian and spoke very good English. The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the centre of the old town, the Uffizi is within 3-5 minutes walk as were most of the major sights. There are also plenty of food options in close proximity and the train abnd bus stations are about 20 minutes walk (without a back pack!) away for any day trips. We loved ourt time in Firenze and our enjoyment of this wonderful city was enhanced by our stay at Hotel Cristina.

This hotel is in a great location and would be totally worth the money if they invested in the individual A/C units other hotels have. The heat was unbearable and we were traveling with two 12 year old girls who really had a hard time. The staff had a big fan/cooling unit they used so we asked to have that put in our room so the girls and my husband and I could sleep at night. That is my only complaint. We had a quad and the room was very big and the bathroom was clean. (The towels were tiny and thin as well)

The location of this hotel was great. I was there during the month of June and the place has no air conditioner. We had a fan in the room and did well with that. Being a girl, the trouble I had was lifting the luggage 2 flights of stairs. There's no elevators. Besides that the hotel is in a central location. Everything is within walking distance.

We stayed for 4 nights in a very spacious triple. The beds were a bit creaky but the service was attentive and welcoming. The sisters were very helpful with information about Florence. Our room overlooked the street, which made for some noisy evenings & mornings (bring ear plugs), but I consider that a fair trade-off for an excellent, extremely central location just steps away from the Piazza della Signorina. FYI: no air conditioning, but a fan was provided--room was quite cool despite the heat while we were there, & reception is on first floor (no elevator) and you'll need to carry your luggage up a long flight of stairs. Overall, we were very satisfied with Cristina and would return if we're lucky enough to go back to Florence.

We had a quad room for four adults. The room was very spacious even by American standards and very clean. It is in a great central location, but it is a little hard to find. The map on the website is not quite exact. It was a challenge to get to by car. They said they had a garage but that only means that they know the location of a private one a couple of blocks away. When I got to the garage it was full and I had to drive around for a about 1/2 an hour to find a "blue" metered parking area by the river. At that point I was about a km away but it was still closer and cheaper than parking at the Train Station (the closest puplic garage). Driving in Florence in this area is very difficult. The streets are mostly one way, very narrow and street names are not well marked. But, once we got settled in everything else was fine. The bathroom was good size but like many small Italian hotels the shower had a curtain but no base. The water simply drains to the middle of the bathroom. It's not a real problem when you allow for it.

The location was amazing! The price was fantastic! Definitely the nicest 2-star I've stayed in. I think it's listed as a 1-star, but it should be a 2-star. It had the rustic qualities of a pensione, but nicer. The shower was terrific. No noise from above, but the walls are a tad thin (only shower noise). The street noise is there, but I didn't notice since I'm a heavy sleeper, while my wife was woken up a few times. Clean sheets and towels and everything. No TV, but why would you want one? Overall, for the money, a 4.5 out of 5!

I loved the location of this hotel in relation to major sights. The map makes it look closer to the train station than it is, but really, Florence is so small that it doesn't matter. Location of the hotel was #1 quality. We changed upgraded our room upon arrival. The room we booked was so small, we could barely open the door and not fall on the bed. We were offered a larger nicer room incl bathroom for 28euros more per night with a window overlooking the street. The room was fairly clean, but the walls and bathroom needed to be painted and cleaned. The beds in both room were like roll away beds, thin mattresses that sagged and squeeked. It was hard to sleep in the beds, plus it was noisy at night from the street traffic. The owners and help were very accomidating. I probably would not stay there again-too noisy, no shower curtain-bathroom floor and toilet were soaked every time you took a shower, poor quality beds. Guess it depends on what you want, but after 10-12 hours of walking, shopping, and touring, I want to sleep at night so I am refreshed for the next day activities.

The hotel Cristina has excellent location in Florence. The hostess is one of the most wonderful ladies in the whole world. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a budget option in the center of town. We only had 2 days in Florence and wanted to be close to the museums, shops and the Duomo, etc. When we first rang the buzzer to be let in and saw the dank, dark entry with only a set of stairs, we both looked at eachother and kind of half laughed but I honestly half thought my wife was going to kill me. We had been staying in a villa in tuscany for a week and before that an apartment in Varnazza and the tiny but extremely clean hotel in Rome seemed like a distant memory. When we got to the top of the stairs we were greeted by one of the two, kindly sisters who run the pension. Both were very nice and offered great insight into Florence's culture. Our room was huge for Italy standards about (20ftx20ft) with private bath. It was exterely clean. I accidentally flooded the area outside of the bathroom door. I sopped up the tile floor with a white towel and I was amazed to see that the towel was just as white as it was when it was before the job. The furniture was atypical for us as in America you know how the bed spread matches the drapes and the furniture looks like it was bought of the set of 'The Price is Right.' The wooden shutters opened on to their front street. Across the street were 3 wine bars with some shops, markets and cafes within 25 meters. I'm sure that there are plenty of good, budget places to stay in Florence but we'd both reccomend this one.

This is a real gem of a hotel. It is basic in terms of facilities but for the price paid it was the best value hotel we stayed in in Italy. The staff are lovely, the room was clean and had real character about it and the location could not be better. If there was one thing they could add it would be breakfast facilities but apart from that we were delighted with it. If we go back to Florence we will definitely stay here again.

Our room was very large for our family. Bathroom was small and not very well vented. Interior a bit dated, but the location was nice with good access to restaurants and sights.

The employees were very nice and the rooms were OK but nothing amazing. The bathroom we had was not too clean and we had 2 dried up towels..The room was dark and the bed was not too comfortable..needs a lift or something...

The only reason why I did not give a maximum rating under "General Review" has nothing to do with the hotel itself: the only time the street (via della Condotta) is calm is between 1am and 6am. I guess it is the price to pay for such a perfect location (for example, Palazio Vecchio is only 75m away, and its belfry celebrates midnight with a carillon...) Cristina will be my recommendation for young people who themselves will enjoy reveling on this joyful town until all hours. Please forward my appreciation and thanks to Ms Feresh Fery and her staff for their kindness and competence.

This hotel was great. We had a spacious room w/ out a bathroom or shower. The bathrooms were right across the hall and well maintained. The location was extremely convienient and close to the action. Our room was spacious and clean. Service was with a bright smile. I highly recommend this place for the mid price to budget traveler.

Friendly service, large bedroom, quiet surrounding, good price. No A/C, only very basic service available, and have to climb 2 flights of stairs to reach the hotel.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We didn't spend a whole lot of time there because we were there to visit the city and not the hotel, but I would definitely stay there the next time I go to Florence. It is an excellent location, right next to pretty much everything. If you are looking for a decent hotel, right in the center of Florence you couldn't ask for anything more.

Immediately upon checking into the Hotel Cristina, we felt comfortable and at home. Everyone was very nice, helpful and more than willing to answer our questions or call us a taxi. The rooms were sparkling and had an authentic Italian charm. They even came in and made the beds every day! We didn't have a bathroom in our room, but the public ones were never a cause for concern. They were clean and we never had to wait for a shower. Overall, our stay there was fantastic and we would certainly book there again on a return trip.

the location of this hotel is fantastic as it is so close to everything. The staff were really helpful. The building has a sense of history about it (furnishings and floors well worn and used) but don't let this put you off. We had a brilliant time and it was so cheap considering its location.

The room was dirty, the bedding was shabby, the beds were sagging in the middle and the pillows were so old, thin and limp that when you picked one up, it folded in half. In addition, the bathroom was dirty, the room was noisy and the proprietress was strictly business. Because we had reserved through Venere, the owner would not refund us our deposit and we had to spend our first night there. Fortunately, we were easily able to find a much quieter, cleaner place just around the corner with a charming Italian grandma-owner to welcome us; much more of what one would hope for and expect in renting a room in a small pensione. There was nothing warm, welcoming, comfortable or charming about Hotel Cristina. One could do much better in Florence.

My daughter and I spent two nights at the Cristina and had a perfectly restful stay. I reserved a room without a private bath, but we in fact had a bath to ourselves as it was right next to our room and the hotel was not busy, so the money saved was worth it. I had also requested a quiet room, so ours was an interior room, away from the street. The mattress was very comfortable if a bit squeaky! The outstanding feature of this hotel is its location, just steps from the Piazza della Signoria. The owners were very kind and helpful, and let us keep our bags in the foyer on the morning of our departure so that we could squeeze in some last-minute shopping. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to the budget traveler who would rather spend his or her money eating, shopping, and visiting the museums than on a room.

We are a couple. At the beginning we were arranged a room with a bed that is even smaller than full size one. Fortunately, we got a change later. The bed is quit soft, hot shower is good.

I'd recommend this hotel to any people wanting to be in the best location in Florence for seing the Uffizzi, Duomo etc. The staff were welcoming and helpful, but unobtrusive. The price was excellent and I happily recommend it as very good value. Don't go if you're expecting luxury, but do if you want to stay in interesting, charming, spacious but fairly basic rooms.

Having spent 2 weeks travelling around Italy and staying in various hotels, I would rate my stay at the Hotel Cristina as excellent. Not only is the hotel in a central location, but the family who run it were friendly and helpful as well. Excellent value for money.

The Christina hotelmis worse than"bare bones". We were told that the room had a bathroom, but it turned out that it was outside the room and down the hall. The price agrred upon with Venere was not honoered and we were told to pay 140 Euro more. No soap, raggedy towels, no air conditioning, no lift. Need we say anymore? It completely soured the Florence experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason.
