for the price we paid (40€ per night), the hotel was really excellent, except for the toilet outside the room (which has a shower and sink). The situation is perfect, it's just near the Duomo so just near the whole center!

The hotel is in a very good location and the service is very good. The only complains that I had was heating, they usually turn off at night, so I feel cold at the morning and the hotel hasn´t elevator.

This is a great hotel for someone on a budget. It is literally 5 minutes away from the Duomo in one direction and 5 minutes away from the main train hub of Florence (Santa Maria Novella station from where you can go anywhere in Europe, really) The hotel is on a big street, Pinzani, so you won't be lost looking for it in a maze of small, Florentine streets. The staff is great, Edi especially. She is bilingual in English and Italian, more than helpful with any questions you may have (directions to opera tix) and a great, approachable person overall. I had absolutely no complaints and will recommend Varsavia to anybody.

it was never mentioned that, although the bathroom was exclusively for my use, it would be outside the room. and after climbing the 6 flights to get to my room, there was still another 5 steps that i'd have to climb to get to the bathroom. the room was very small and i couldn't even open the closet doors in full cause i'd hit the bed. staff was very helpful especially with booking tours and giving directions.

The location of this hotel is very convenient to the train station. I would recommend this hotel to travellers who do not have issues with climbing stairs with lugguage. I was with family members ranging from age 8 to 80. My parents who are over 70 did not have trouble with climbing steps but were winded by the time they climbed 2 flights. The staff at the hotel is very friendly, helpful, and professional, especially Edie. She gave us detailed instructions on how to find all the tourist attactions. This hotel is a good value, clean, but as with many European hotels, old. You can hear the street noise very well even when you close the windows but we were rarely in the room so this was not a problem for us. At night, the noise subsided. Continental breakfast included in the price of the room included croissants, cappucino, cereal and cheese and all were excellent.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very helpful and friendly. However, Venere.com listed this hotel as having internet capabilities. When I asked if the internet was available, I was told no. That was very disappointing for me. I had counted on utilizing the internet to keep in touch with family during my stay. I'm not sure if this is the hotel's fault or an error with Venere.com. "All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, private bathroom, safe, hairdryer, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, heating and Internet connection."

The people who worked there were fantastic!!! They were so welcoming and friendly. The location was great, you could walk anywhere. It was close to the train station, so you could just walk there. It was on a busy street, so you could hear some of the outside noise, but that is what you get if you stay on a busy street. The location was worth the noise. I will stay here again when I return to Florence!!! Thanks a lot for the great stay!!!!!

The location of the hotel is very good. Actually, the historical center of Florence is very small, and so, most hotels are within walking distance to the touristic sites. However, Varsavia is also close to the main train station. You walk in an underground passage for a couple of hundreds meters and then find yourself a few steps from the hotels. We had no problems walking there with our luggage. The rooms and bathroom were very clean and cosy, the beds were comfortable. The room was quite after closing the window. The hotel employees were all polite, some spoke English. I can't wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for 2 reasons: First, it had many stairs to climb and no lift. We receivede some help from the hotel receptionist, but it was still difficult to bring the luggage up. However, I have to note that this is a common situation in Italian cities. The second weak point of the hotel is its disappointing breakfast. There was no fresh bread, only dry minuscule toasts, and croissants which were not fresh enough and too sweet for our breakfast habits.

We stayed on the first floor in a room for 4. The hotel has an excelent position, it is only a few of hundred meters from the Dome. The room was clean enough, although not sparkling. The bathroom was OK. The room had air conditioning and the windows led to the main street and for this reason when you opened them it was very noisy. We had breakfast and it was poor, very few kinds of food and the space where we had breakfast was small, but nice. We had some problems when it came to parking our car, cause they had none and we had to park to a parking with whom the hotel has a partnership, it costed 20Euro per day. You have to park the car in front of the hotel, on the oposite side cause there is no room on the hotel's side of the road and then someone from the parking comes and takes your car. When you leave they bring it back.

I would have expected a bath in the room for that amount of money. Actually, there are 2 qualms I have about the hotel: That the bathrooms are out in the hallway and that there is not elevator, the stairway is quite steep and narrow. Otherwise, I consider the price / quality ratio OK.

Quite noisy. No lift. The room vibrated with every bus passing by. Anyway, the situation was perfect (5 minutes to the station and 5 minutes to the Duomo), the personal was very polite and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was correct. The price is good for Florence (expensive if it were in any other city)

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. People were great! The room and hotel were very clean. My only real complaint is that the "private" bathroom was down the hall from the bedroom, not en suite. I feel that this was a misrepresentation of a private bathroom. It was not convienent.

Nice Hotel, with friendly staff. Good location, very near to historic centre of town. Rooms are quite OK, beds are comfortable and shower/bathroom is good and clean. Just the road is on (Panzani) is very busy and causes a lot of noise, which you could cery well hear in our room (on the street side).

The hotel is in a great location, near the train station and near the Duomo. My only real problem was that there is no elevator. This would be fine if you are on the first, or even the second floor. But if you have to go to the top floor, you will have lost all your energy by the time you get there, whether you are carrying luggage or not. The other thing that is kind of weird is that while I did have my own bathroom with shower, it is in a separate room, which makes it necessary to unlock your door, relock it, unlock the bathroom door, lock it from the inside and then reverse the whole process on the way back. Can't comfortably wear a towel out because you might run into someone in the hall on the way back to the room.

This was a great hotel in a great location. Close to the train station, but only a five minute walk from most of the Florence attractions. On a main road, so it felt safe coming back any time of night. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but try not to stay on the 3rd floor if you have a lot of luggage- there is no elevator and the third floor in Europe is like the 4th floor in the US. Lots of stairs, and after a long day of walking, it's nice just to make it to the room.

The staff at Hotel Varsavia was very helpful and pleasant. The only thing that was strange was that when I received a call at 4am, the staff member who answered the phone told the caller "not to call at this time, that it was 4am in Europe and to call back during the day." I thought that a bit strange for a hotel. I never received the message from the staff.

There are only two comments I should make: 1. There is no lift - the rooms on the third floor are hard work with large amounts of luggage. 2. The hotel is actually right by the train station and not really as near to the Duomo as the map would lead you to believe - you can walk to/from the station in less than 2 minutes! but it takes a good 7 or 8 minutes to walk to the Duomo. However, the staff were very helpful and very friendly.

This hotel is run by a very friendly and competent staff, who for the most part speak very good English. The location is terrific; it directly between the train station and the Doumo, requiring only a 4 minute walk to get to each. My room was very spacious and the bathroom was decent. I would strongly recommend this hotel to budget-conscious travelers.

This hotel was very nice. The room was larger and the bathroom was very nice and spacious. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative aspect was that there was no elevator, but it was not a problem for us. The price was great for the quality that you receive. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

We recently stayed for 3 LONG, LONG nights at the Varsavia and would not even recommend this hotel to our worst enemy. On arrival, the reception staff could not speak a word of English and then smiled sweetly when handing us the key to room 18 (read on for the wonders of room 18!) and then saying '3rd floor'!!! No elevator and a very narrow staircase and 2 big, heavy suitcases left both of us (youngish and fittish!) gasping when we reached the door. Now to room 18...this is the room with the balcony as 'featured' on the website...what a joke...the balcony is 3 metres square, has no view as there is a sloping tiled roof stretching away at chest height (voyeurism to the hotel across the street is the only advantage...if you like that sort of thing!!)...oh yes...I almost forgot...a very lovely, large water storage tank in one of the corners!! As for the room, it was dated, dingy, VERY...I said VERY noisy and the bed was hard and the pillows like rocks in disguise!! Oh, yes and the aircon didn't work...but the windows had to be kept closed due to the 24/7 roar from the street (that you can't see!!!) below. Breakfast was meagre to say the least. The only good things about this hotel are it's location to the central Florentine attractions (Duomo, Ponti Vechio, Uffizi, etc:) AND checking OUT! Oh, and to round off a perfect stay...when our hire car came back from the car parking company they use it had a nice big scrape on the corner of the back bumper...not their fault obviously!

Great location near the station and Duomo. We had a lovely basic, quiet room not on street front which was clean and a good size. The shower was also very good. The hotel is run by the Cecconi family who are more than helpful and enthusiastic. They made our stay most welcoming. Good value for the price when compared to other hotels in Florence. A good place to take children because the Cecconi's are so considerate towards the needs of parents with children. A great option for Florence which will really enhance your stay.

The hotel has a good location, price is good for Florencia, and the staff is helpful. But it is not true that "The hotel's rooms are furnished with care and passion, perfectly soundproofed, all equipped with private bathrooms with shower, hair dryer, air conditioning" as stated in the web. Furnishing is just normal, my shower was at another room at the end of the corridor (only for my use), withour hair dryier, the air conditioning was individual and made a strong noise. Breakfast is quiet poor.

We had a bit of a problem upon checking in where we had to share a room for the first night with another of our traveling couples. Our innkeeper was very gracious and discounted our rooms at the end of our 3 night stay. The hotel was air conditioned, in a busy but great location, and we felt safe and comfortable at Hotel Varsavia. Climbing three flights of stairs was the only inconvenience!
