Although the room was small, the price was well worth the space. Our room was cleaned everyday, our sheets changed, and fresh towels supplied. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We were within walking distance of the subway, which allowed us to access all the major sites. The breakfast was the same each day, but easily saved us 10 euros per day, which made it worth it. This hotel is perfect for someone who is on a budget trip, wants to stay in Rome, and requires cleanliness.

Stayed at this hotel twice (4 nights at the beginning of trip and one night at the end) Wonderful hotel, great central location very near Termini, friendly owners & staff. Only a 5 minute walk (with heavy bags) from the main Station. Within walking distance (admittedly long walks, but nothing too difficult) of many attractions (Colosseum, Forum, Piazza di Spagna. Trevi Fountain, Quirinale, Santa Maria Maggiore). Great daily street market right outside the front door. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We were very impressed with price/value. The location is 3 blocks from the main train station, bus lines and 2 different subway locations. The area is not in the historic hub, but easily accessible. The hotel had the best double/triple window system...you would never know the bustling neighborhood was just below. A street market, a deli, restaurants, precious laundromat, computer access, whatever you need is right below the hotel. We thought it was great for our 4 night stay. It is not a place to hang out at.....just perfect though, for sightseeing all day and crashing at night.

Ascot was a decent hotel. We asked for a double room & got a room w/ a king & 2 twins. It was spacious. The bathroom was a nice size with a tub/shower. It is a noisy street, but the 2 sets of windows keep the sound out. Nice to open up too! The area at first sight, was questionable, but ended up being very safe @ night. That was important being single females. The train is about a 10 min walk and is very easy to use to get around to Rome's attractions. Parking garage down the street was nice too. 35 euro for 2 nights. There is a market on the street in front of hotel in the mornings. You will not be able to pull in front during that time. There is a lift!

This was our first time in Rome. The hotel was very convenient to the train station, which was important to us as we walked everywhere. It was a bit of a walk to get to the sites in Rome, but not bad at all if you are active/like walking. If you are not a walking type of person, I'd find something closer to downtown. The hotel was clean and friendly, and there was a market going on outside in the street every morning, which we thought was fun. There is not much common area, but who spends time in a hotel except for sleeping while on vacation anyway? However--be warned that Rome in general is not all that pleasant. It's a must visit as the historical sites are art are amazing and I wouldn't have missed seeing them--but the people are not friendly; in fact they are quite rude. Watch out for your restaurant bills--they try to charge you for all sorts of things you didn't order or didn't want, and will charge more than posted for the things you did want. When confronted, they adjust the bill no problem, like they are just trying to see how much they can get away with. Similarly, places that have posted that they take credit cards will then tell you their line is down, but if you push them it will magically work again. All that said, the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, and again, very convenient to the train station. We would stay there again if it wasn't in Rome. (Don't skip Rome as again, the sites aren't to be missed, but once you've been there you don't have to go back.)

The hotel is very close to the train station, so the walk was very easy. I loved the outdoor market outside the front door, we bought a skirt for my daughter for 2 euro so we wouldn't have any problems getting into churhes. The quad for our family of 4 was perfect, double glzaed window kept out street noise. The breakfast could be improved with more selection, but it was fine for us to start the day. We walked back to the hotel late one night and inadvertantly went down a street nearby with a few prostitutes on it, but even with that the area still felt safe for us. I guess that's what it means to live in a big city. Also, I thought I remembered there was high speed internet service at the hotel, but that was not the case. Overall, our stay was great.

This hotel is a little gem. The staff were friendly, and they could be flexible with your check out time. They also provide TV with English and French channels. It was few minutes away from the station, and if you fancy a walk, you could walk to Borghese Gardens. It's not exactly in a tourist area, the room was so quiet, I didn't realise there was a street market in the morning selling fresh fruit, vegetables and clothes. There are numerous internet cafes and a launderette and supermarkets. There's also several restaurants in the area and there's a cafe/bar on the same road run by a nice Chinaman where you can have snack or a very late breakfast and you can observe the locals chatting away.

Big rooms (we had 4+2 for 3 adults and 3 children). Staff helpful on questions. Eating room not that big (5 tables), but big enough. Good and enough continental breakfast. The receptionist Sabrina was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located on the second and third floor of the building (classic historical elevator exists). The street is actually a cute market place during weekdays - for us this was a bonus. Hotel is located near the Tremini train station, and is within a reasonable walking distance to city's main attractions. There was no wireless internet access in the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt we had a good deal.

I stayed at the Hotel Ascot for a single night in order to catch an early flight out of Rome the next day. It worked out really well, because the hotel is only a few blocks from the train station, a pretty easy walk. It was my first time staying on my own, and the people there were very nice. They helped me carry my suitcase upstairs, gave me a map when I decided to walk around the city for a while, and gave me a wake-up call in the morning to make sure I wouldn't miss my flight. Also, once I figured out I had to leave before breakfast started in the morning, they knocked the price of breakfast off the rate, even though I had reserved a B&B. Also, I did a little research before I picked this hotel, and this was the cheapest I could find near the train station, and still have my own room. The room was small, but certainly big enough for one person, and there was a TV with cable, which was nice. I would certainly recommend it, especially for those travelling on a budget. Also, just a note, you do have to buzz into the hotel, because there are other apartments in the building. This confused me a bit when I first got there, but it certainly made me feel safe, because they make you give your name and room number before they let you in.

This hotel is located on the second floor of a residential building. It is located near Termini station, which is not the best area in Rome. You have to ring the buzzer downstairs to be let into the building. One night when I came back late (around 11:00PM) I had to ring the buzzer several times before someone let me in. The rooms are large, but there is little common area. Next time I'll spend a bit more money and stay somewhere else.

I stayed at Ascot Hotel for 6 days and I have to say the place is perfect for the budget. My room was quiet and clean with enough space. The bathroom was complete and very clean. Towels and blankets were very clean. The people at the reception are very nice and helpful, and some speak english very well. The neighbourhood is not so bad and close to mayor public transport. There are a few good restaurants near by. The hotel has elevator so you don't have to carry your luggage up the stairs. This is the place to be in Rome for a standard turist budget.

Although this was a 2 star hotel, the actual room was on par with 3 star hotels we've stayed at during this trip. Very good, friendly service. About 10 minute walk to the Termini train station, so convenient location to then take the train directly to/from the airport. However it's not the cleanest, prettiest areas in Rome. We wished we could've found a hotel near the Spanish steps area, which is where we stayed at the beginning of our 2 wk italian holiday. No complaints about the hotel itself though. Clean.

My fourth time here - Ascot is in today's market (Rome is expensive) a good deal. Signora Paris is a completely professional and genteel hostess- I mostly choose Ascot for its proximity to the main train station - Roma Termini, so that instead of a potential scandalously marked up (gouged actually) cab ride, you just wheel your luggage to Ascot in about five minutes. This is equally true if you arrive at the airport, the shuttle train brings you to Termini. The neighborhood isn't brilliant, some blocks are a little seamy; but overall it's quite safe, there are plenty of places to eat, buy papers, shop etc (for basic stuff and some fruit or whatnot, the street market just in front is very handy and cheap) Also one is not far at all from the sights and more glamorous shopping. Trastevere, Campo dei Fiori, Coloseum, Fontana Trevi, Piazza Navona and all that jazz are all about a twenty minute bus ride and all the buses leave from the platforms right in front of Termini. San Lorenzo, a new kind of "hip/gentrified" area is about five minutes walk, right next to the station. I will say one more time that I don't see why, since there is enough space, the beds couldn't be just a bit-maybe just 6 or 10 inches-wider, instead of being "nun sized" - yes this is true all over Rome, but it is changing, so why not here too ? Final note - i don't know what the total number of rooms is, so i can never rate that fairly. Venere - are you listening ? This isn't a fiar question for us or the hoteliers

MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED! The double room was 80 Euros per night, in the centre of Rome in August, near the train station - we were not expecting too much! It was a plesent surprise that the room and bathroom were clean and plesent to look at. The double glazzing was very good at keeping all the street noise out,(not that there was much). Paying the extra 8 Euros for air-con was worth it. The staff were very plesent. To gain entry from the street, you press a buzzer and ask to get in. Reception is on the second floor. It's a lovely old fashioned building inside, with private appartments on the first 2 floors. Breakfast was good, with very fresh croissants and bread rolls, cheese, yoghurts, o.j. and coffee. The area was safe to walk in at night. We would take 10 minutes to walk to Republic, where there are nice bars and the Metro. Even with my heavy bag, it took less than 15 minutes to walk to the Termini train station. The station itself and the area around it are much more plesent than in other capital cities I have visited!!! Not much of a public sitting area in the Ascot, but what do you expect for 80 Euros? Most of the sights of Rome are less than 20 minutes away, with your map and metro ticket to hand. Tip: Buy an All Day Ticket from a Tabac, as the machines in the Metro don't usually work! I would stay at Ascot again.

Our family of four stayed here for 4 nights. This was our first stop in Italy and we were very pleased. The price for Rome was excellent and from what I understand so was the space. The bath room was a decent size and the AC worked well. Breakfast area was small yet quaint. The staff had wonderful dinner recommendations and the location very conveniently located near the train station. The Roma pass was a great buy. Make sure you book a tour to the Vatican in advance! This will decrease your time in line, also know which side of the Vatican entrance you should line up in!

I recommended it. It has a good position in Rome, it's near the centre. You can see all important points in Rome wallking. It's clean, good breakfast and good price for a good 2 stars hotel in Rome. And it's very closed to Termini Station - we have bus shuttle from Ciampino Aeroport to Termini and we walk 4 minutes from there to the hotel. Would not recommend this to others for several reasons: Shutters of windows were welded shut, so room was like a cave. Room was clean and bathroom modern, but a persistent sewer/urine smell near the bed was bothersome. Lots of traffic noise on one street, daily market followed by street cleaning machines on other street is somewhat dampened by double windows, but not completely.

The room was very nice, clean and comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was utilitarian. Shower was small, I think that is an Italian thing. Staff was very helpful and breakfasts were not extensive but what was served was excellent. Location of Ascot is very convenient, just two blocks from the Termini station, for trains, metro and buses. Also, directly across the street is a laundramat and internet point which was very convenient. If you have a car, parking is a little tricky. We made the mistake of leaving our car on the street in front of the hotel and the next morning I was boxed in by street vendors. So, the next few nights I found street parking elsewhere. The cost is 1 euro per hour with a max of 11 euro per day. This was cheaper than the parking garage around the corner.

I came to Rome with my sister and had a brilliant weekend. A bit of noice from the morning market below, but not a problem vith the doublegrasing windows closed. Nice little hotel, convenient location. The Eide sisters.

We stayed here only because it was close to the train station for our final night in italy. It was a very easy walk to the train and on to the airport. It was a very busy part of Rome. We felt safe inside the hotel with monitored entry 24/7. A toddler was crying upstairs from 9pm to midnight and that was all we could hear. Very loud. Breakfast was good. All in all, nothing exciting or wonderful. Just convenience priced right.

I would not go back to this hotel again. I had requested for a quadruple room and what I got was a double room with two extra beds. The location is good, pretty close to Termini and walking distance to most of the monuments in Rome.

I stayed only for one night as I had to go to Fiumicino early the next morning, and I chose the hotel because it was near Stazione Termini and the restaurant at which I was meeting friends, Terme di Diocleziano. I would rate it an excellent two-star hotel. It does not have some of the amenities of a three-star hotel (no frigobar, but there is a small grocery store across the way for water, etc.), but there is international cable TV and the room was spotless (only a little dirty in the shower, which is why 9 and not 10). The breakfast was excellent for the price range and served pleasantly, and better than that of some more expensive hotels. Very happy with my stay there, thank you! :o)))

Both Claire and I stayed at the Hotel ascot for 6 nights at 80 euros a night(B&B), the rooms were simple, spacious and spotless. the location of the hotel was great to see the sigthts. the beds are very hard and my not suit those who prefer soft beds, Claire used the spare blankets laid under the valnce sheet to make it better. There can be a bit of noise in the morning as the market sets up - 0800-0900hrs, but nothing that we did not sleep through. Brekfast is served till 1000hrs and was again simple, but cheaper than having to buy from a cafe. Overall we were very happy with Hotel Ascot. (below I've put us down as a young couple as I was too vain to call us a mature couple, we aged 30-33)

My son and myself spent 3 nights in the beautiful room 22 in the Ascot hotel. We liked it very much, since the hotel is very nice, and it is located excellently near the Termini-Station where also the metro can be reached very easily and where the ArcheoBus starts to the Via Appia and catacombes. Above all we liked the friendly people at the hotel and the great breakfst with sweet croissants.

Hello! We've spent nice and pleasant 8 days in that hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Double windows, small, but own balcony :) The only problem thing was water getting out of pipe during taking shower. It's small detail to repair, but could help it for sure. Anyway we recommend this hotel. It's really good place for stay; good quality for good money, there're some internet-cafes, laundry, cafe, snack-bars, shops around hotel. Also not so far away from 2 metro-stations: Termini and Repubblica. Best regards for the stuff :) **3 guys**

We stayed 4 nights at Ascot hotel in March 2007. The hotel is located very close to Termini station which is convenient even if the neighborhood is a bit seedy. The hotel itself seemed OK when we arrived, rooms were quite spacious and clean. In the end we were really unsatisfied as the hotel ended up being very noisy. There is another hotel, Hotel Noto, just next to it and it had 400 students staying there (this is what they explained to us when we asked the reception) and nobody could stop them partying there all night; lots of stumping and yelling until very late hours. We could not recommend this hotel to anybody due to that, we felt like sleeping in the student's hostel and with that price (80 eur per night) you cannot accept that. The lady in the reception even blamed us saying we were the only ones to complain about the noise as if it was our fault and not theirs. And under no circumstances choose the Noto hotel either! Breakfast was OK and people in the reception spoke English but still, as the noise problem could not be tackled it did not help :(

The Ascot was exactly what I wanted. Clean, basic and economical. Less than 10 minute walk from Roma Termini and in a quiet and safe neighborhood. I will stay at the Ascot again. My only problem was getting in. You need to look for and push the button next to Ascot Hotel. Overall, I was very happy.

Me and my mother stayed three nights in the Hotel Ascot and were pleased with everything. The woman in the reception was very helpfull, thanks to her we didn't even had to go to a tourist information! The room was clean and nice, the Hotel is close to the train station, bus station, to a supermarked and to several internet cafes. I can truly recomend the Hotel to people who don't want to spend to much money for the Hotel but who want a nice and clean room.

perfect place for a weekend in rome, close to the railway station and walking distance to sightseeing attractions. i liked the morning market in the little street in front of the hotel. rooms and bathroom bigger than expected, breakfast for italy okay, staff very friendly. very good windows, you do not hear anything from outside but from the other rooms, why do people have to make noice in the middle of the night? I could imagine staying at this hotel again.

Una breve vacanza (4 notti) durante il ponte dell'8 dicembre. A poche minuti a piedi dalla stazione Termini e quindi dal centro e ai principali e più importanti monumenti e/o chiese. Personale molto gentile e disponibile. Stanza confortevole e tutto molto pulito. Colazione a buffet sufficientemente assortita. Consigliabile per chi vuole visitare Roma da turista avendo qualche giorno a disposizione.

My only concern was they (Ascot Hotel) advertise that they have Internet access and was not truth, please don't do that. If you don't have a service don't lie to the possible guest. All the power outlets was off, the only one that works, was were the TV was connected. Other than that is okay.

Excellent stay! My wife is in a wheel-chair and the staff and facilities were perfect for her. I can't picture another hotel in this price range fitting our needs any better. Our 2 year old granddaughter was with us too. One night she was hungry and local resturants were closed--the hotel staff found cheese and bread for us. THEY WERE GREAT! We highly recommend the ASCOT Hotel to couples and families. Thank you so much.

Double bed was two single beds pushed together which was not what was expected. Also we stayed there early November and the heating is not turned on until late November. It was quite cold and had to use the extra blankets provided. Other than that, a great little hotel. Staff were friendly and were more than happy to give us a map and advise on which buses travel which route. I would stay here again - but make sure I had a double bed and that the heating would be on!

If you are looking for a quality place in Rome near the centre and train station, this is your place. My room had added double layered noise proof windows, so no noise problem about which some people before had complained. Stayed with 2 family members on 2nd floor. What I loved most was the victorian style lift of the building. The hostess was helpful. Its a family run hotel, so gives you are very personal feeling. But they seem to be doing it for a long time to know how to do it. Its not your place if you are looking for a hotel with a midnight bar or disco and pool table. It might be a little expensive, but the quality is worth it. Probably it was the best thing from my whole 3-night stay in Rome.
