We were here for our first anniversary and wanted a quiet, comfortable room in a decent hotel (for a decent price) and weren't disappointed! The double room was small, but there was plenty of space for two people. The bathroom was gorgeous, bed was comfortable (even though it was just 2 single matresses) and the location was superb (right next to Piazza San Marco, a must see)! I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Good hotel with excellent service (french and english spoken). The room was clean, well decorated but quite small (general comment for venise hotels) and a bit noisy in the early evening but very quite during the night. The TV set was also too small

Hotel was very clean and very convenient. Staff were courteous & competent. There was a little street noise in the early evening, but at night it was very quiet. Appointments were comfortable, although room was on the smallish size. It was perfectly adequate for our stay, however. If we go again, we will probably stay in one of the other districts where prices are lower, but for our first stay in Venice, it was a good choice.

The elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, but there are 2 rooms on the 4th floor. We had to carry a great deal of luggage to the 4th floor- not ideal. room was very cozy with many windows that opened out to a beautiful piazza, and made the stair climb worth the effort. Breakfast was lousy- standard continental, but very low budget. Front desk attendants were good, but not fabulous. the location is prime, just around the corner from Prada, Gucci and all of the great shopping- very near San Marco. There is a fabulous coffee shop around the corner behind the big bookstore- the most amazing fresh squeezed orange juice, cappuccinos and mind-blowing chocolate croissants (brioche). Look for the busy Italians stopping in for coffee in the morning!

Great place in the center of town. No internet and no solutions for those who do need internet. Expect to spend half a day dealing with this on your own if you don't already have experience with Italian paid internet.

Staff friendly but unable to recommend a single reasonable late night café to get a restaurant. Staff next door at the Westin Europa were able to recommend three, one in each price category.

Breakfast not very healthy (nothing fresh) but tasty enough.

While Venice is a wonderful place to see, it is a horrible place to stay. You could do much, much worse than the Hotel Anastasia. If you can get a good rate on your (very small) room, I would recommend it. The bathrooms are excellent and the hotel is in good repair.

The location is very good, close to Piazza San Marco. The bathroom has good space. The only problem is how to get there. From the airport, you have to take the bus number 5 to Piazza Roma and get down in the final stop (about 15 minutes), where you can take a Vaporetto 1 or 2. It takes aroun 40 minutes until Vanizzielo stop. Once there, you have to walk about 200 m, but We recommend you call hotel to ask about directions.

My husband and I stayed in Venice at the end of July 2008 after the cruise. The location of the hotel was very good because of the proximity to St Mark's square. The room was small, but nice, clean, and quet. It was overlooking a small quart yard, which both of us liked. We picked this hotel due to its location and the price. We will recommend it for a short 1-2 night stay.

We were very pleased with the Anastasia and found it to be a good bargain. It is centrally located, very clean and quiet, and the breakfast was excellent. On the negative side, the room was small and we sometimes banged our legs on the bed when moving around the room. Guests with mobility problems might find it hard to move luggage over the steps necessary to reach the hotel. It is also not easy to find for first time visitors to Venice.

We had a lot of trouble finding the hotel. Maps on the website showed the location correctly, but did not give enough detail to be useful (need more street names and landmarks). Inacessable by water taxi or water bus. You will have to walk about 3 blocks with your luggage.

for the first time in my life i was forbidden by the receptionist to have my friend over to my room, not even for 5 minutes. when i explained i wanted to give her something in the privacy of my room he still denied it firmly. when i asked why wasn't it possible at 19:00 the only respond i got from him repeatedly was that "it is not possible!". i asked to speak to the manager regarding the incident, it is needles to say that didn't happen till my departure. breakfast was served in the entrance of the hotel, not even secluded from the reception, and the variety was poor. as breakfast was served until 10:00, at 9:59 the staff began clearing the poor buffet, evevnthough hotel guests were still sitting for breakfast. due to the impolite behavior of the receptionist and his rudeness, i do not recommend staying in the hotel.

I had a highly enjoyable stay at the Hotel Anastasia. The staff were welcoming, the location could not have been better and I was very pleased with my room. My only criticisms are that the breakfast, while there was plenty of it, was not that fantastic and that my bed was hard. Nevertheless, the staff were extremely helpful, my room was well appointed and I definitely feel that I got value for money. The location really is unbeatable and contrary to what others have said on this site, I found it extremely easy to find the hotel (following the instructions found on their website). I will most certainly be coming back.

Although this was my first stay at Hotel Anastasia I throughly enjoyed it. All the staff were helpful and spoke very good english. Would definately stay here again. Thank you!

It was a bit hard to find from the map but once we did everything was ok. We had a spacious room on the 2nd floor and could see a canal from our window. Breakfast was very good with cereal, crossaints, bread, jams and very good coffee/tea. It is a 5 minute walk to restaraunts/St Marks Square and public transport (water bus).

The rooms are small but nicely furnished. The bathroom is very attractive. The breakfast could do with some attention. We do not eat cooked food and the selection of cereals was poor. There was no fresh fruit and the milk available was only Long Life (it ruins both tea and coffee). There was no internet facility.

We have lived in a Double Room. This modern room was very clean, beds are perfect. Perfect and well designed bath room. The italian breakfast was still ok. Our room has had an air-condition. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are very quiet. The hotel is perfect located - 3 minutes to walk to St. Mark's Square or next vaporetto (boat) station. We would be come back again ...

excellent little hotel. The breakfast room is small, and there isn't really a lobby area to sit in, but I wouldn't even talk about it except for the questionnaire... Wonderful location, great staff, pretty, clean room (mine was next to the elevator, so the noise-level depended on the type of guests coming or going)... definitely worth repeating.

Usually I hesitate to write a review, but not in this case. The Anastasia far surpassed my expectations, and was the nicest hotel experience I have had on my 4 trips to Venice over the last two years. The staff is terrific, and their English is much better than my Italian, which helped quite a bit. I stayed in room 105, which was neat as a pin and had a huge bathroom by Italian standards. The gals that take care of you for breakfast are very nice and make sure you are well cared for. I truly hope that room 105 is available each time I return to La Serenissima in the future. Thanks, Anastasia, you were terrific! Please tell the girls they make a killer cappuccino!

My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Anastasia. It is quite centrally located, yet secluded, a short walk to San Marco, or the Acadamia in the other direction. The rooms are small but well appointed and the staff is ever helpful. The breakfast is OK, nothing fancy. It should be noted that while the hotel advertises internet access, it is dail-up at 20cents per minute EU and you need to get a phone cord if you did not bring one.

Everything was fine except the very small size of the single room with its absence of any kind of view and the lack of fresh bread and real coffee for breakfast. It would be great if Venere.com could ask hotels if the rooms have any kind of view included in the price...

The hotel is located close to St Marco square, the only plus point. Price too high for an old hotel room, 50% higher than what I paid in other parts of Italy. But then, this IS Venice. Everything is expensive. No shower cubicle. The shower head over the long bath is only hand held and imagine showering with only one hand free. Breakfast is of poor choice and served in a very small area. No internet connections, not as advertised. But the staff are helpful and not rude. If I ever return to Venice, I will look elsewher for better value.

Glad we had researched directions from other guests! but location was brilliant, 5 mins with case from water bus stop, hotel located in quiet square but 3 mins from St Marks Square. Hotel was clean, staff very helpful, breakfast basic - cereal, bread/croisant/jam but adequate. Rooms on small side, shower etc cleaned daily. Not a luxury hotel, but for a medium priced hotel very close to St Mark's Square this hotel is good value for money

The concierge recommended a lovely restaurant called Alla Madonna near the Rialto bridge that was wonderful. We also enjoyed the breakfasts at the hotel. This hotel is a good value in Venice. The rooms are comparable to what you'd get on a cruise ship, but they're functional and have all the amenities one would need for a stay in Venice. The location is hard to beat. It's easy to find, very close to all the major attractions, but most importantly it's tucked away in a small square so that when you're in the hotel you don't feel to be in tourist central.

We were very happy with Hotel Anastasia. The location was absolutely outstanding - we shared a courtyard with a 5 Star Westin and were in the same location as another reknown 5 star hotel. The staff was excellent and really made our stay very pleasant. They were very professional, friendly and helpful. Daily breakfast was great - lots to choose from. It was a nice touch that the staff helped my husband put together a tray for me one morning when I was unable to go downstairs in time. Be warned, that the hotel is not easy to find. A more detailed location map would have been helpful or more specifics on how to locate the courtyard Anastasia is located in(ie cross the bridge beside Hotel Bauer at the Church of S.Moise and on the other side turn left immediately and you'll see a sign at the end of the walkway for the hote). Very important since Venice is very tricky to get around, especially with your luggage. Our biggest surprise/disappointment was that the room was much smaller than we expected. If you are not comfortable with a room that is only a few feet wider than the bed itself and a bathroom that only has approx 1 foot between the wall and fixtures (sink, toilet) this is not the place for you. If, however, you are willing to trade off room size for location then you'll be quite happy.

Excellent choice for our stay in Venice. Very comfortable hotel, great location, clean and quiet. Newly remodeled. Great breakfast too. Only problem was a lack of shower curtain or glass to prevent the whole bathroom from getting wet. The staff was very helpful and recommended great restaurants. We are a middle aged married couple and were travelling with parents. They also found the hotel very comfortable (except for the shower curtain problem). We would definitely go back there again.

Pros: excellent staff, even very helpfull when i was sick one night, great location, courtesy, good breakfast, clean and large bathroom. Cons: to be honest, rooms are little too noisy and room is a little too small respect to bathroom (very large). Breakfast could be little improved with more things to eat, but is very good indeed. Main problem (and only that upset me a little) was the noise. Overall i could say it's a 8,5/10.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is very centrally located and close to everything. We stayed two nights at the beginning of our trip at another hotel and one night at the end at Hotel Anastastia and wished we had stayed at Anastasia all along. The bed was soft and comfortable and the room was modern and better than at our other hotel. We didn't have a chance to stay and enjoy breakfast, so I can't comment on that. This hotel is a great value and if you have alot of luggage to carry like we did then this hotel is like a 5 minute walk to the vaparettos.

We were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Our room was lovely, exceptionally clean, with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. We could hear the gondoliers' as they navigated up and down the canal - which was just a 'stone's throw' from San Marco Square. All the people at reception were such a help, especially Simon, and the breakfast was light and energizing - a welcome change from our huge breakfasts at home! We will definately visit again!

My parent's room was rather warm and although this was reported we were advised the heating had been turned off. Heat however was still coming out of the heater. Generally, we enjoyed our stay and have recommended the Hotel to colleagues.

Great location, less than 5 minutes from Piazza San Marco. Easy to get to from the airport - get the waterbus to San Marco and follow the instructions others have put on site, otherwise not easy to find. Rooms are a little cramped, but there's so much to do you probably won't spend much time there. Bathroom was great with a good shower. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. If this is in your price range, I would recommend staying here.

Very good service, they were all helpful and attentive. Clean. Unbeatable location just off San Marco and in a quiet little campo. Rooms a little small. I'll go back any other time I visit Venice.

I stayed at this hotel with my father. It is very well located between 2 vaporetto stops (#1 and #82) and very near P.San Marco. The hotel is not directly on a canal and has no particular view besides an inner courtyard (which meant there was little 'street noise'). However, at the back side of the building is a large and active gondola station, which added much atmosphere and photo opportunities. Our twin room was small, but very clean and the WC/washroom was large and included a large window, a bidet and a bathtub. It was as I expected for Euro 80 per night in early March. The staff were very helpful and warm. Breakfast was simple, but adequate and included a choice of hot beverages. I will recommend this hotel in the future to friends and family on a modest travel budget.

Excellent position and staff. Rooms a tad small. Water pressure leaves a little to be desired but is acceptable if you can accept a leisurely shower. Breakfast fine given that this is Venice.

We stayed during the cold months of December, expecting Venice to be quieter and easier to naviagate without the summer crowds. I must say we were not disappointed, the hotel was in a fantastic location, only a few minutes from St Marks and we found we could pop down there to see the Christmas lights in the evening and the morning sunshine on the Bascilica. The rooms are clean and comfortable, hot showers after a cold walk and then to a restaurant recommended by the helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast is minimal, but the hotel makes up for it with their efficiency and warmth in the morning. I throughly recommend this hotel, after reading the previous reviews, we certainly were not disappointed.

My room was EXACTLY as shown in one of the photographs! But it was also just across the hall from the elevator and the stairway, and other guests were not terribly considerate; there was no way to sleep before about midnight, nor after 8 a.m. That said, the hotel was beautifully clean and well-kept, and I will definitely stay there again, just not in room 105.

Hotel Anastasia is in a quiet location, which may be of value to a lot of travelers especially in Venice. However, do not let the website fool you. While the hotel is clean, the rooms are extremely small. Being a contortionist would be helpful. If you can survive tight quarters the location is excellent. Within minutes of all the important sites, restaurants nearby, and water taxis just around the corner. Overall, this is a nice place to stay.

Brilliant location, nice quiet room wiht good facilities. Breaksfast could be a little more vaired but for the price is great value for money. Staff very helpful but not intrusive so you must ask if you need any help on tourist attractions or transport.

Hotel Anastasia was an excellent hotel the staff were friendly and helpful only problem was finding the hotel on arrival as it is hidden in a small campo off the main streets however once found it was easy to find again as the signs for the other hotel on the square are more prominent and easily seen

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. Our room had windows that opened up to the courtyard, which was noisy at times, but only due to a tour getting together at the Westin next door. It's in a great location to gondola rides, shops and restaurants. If you stay here, park at the Furina Terminal and take the boat to the southern end of Venice. The Anastasia is closest to that port, otherwise, you'll be walking forever to find it. The front desk clerk was very helpful in recommending dinner places and a group gondola tour definitely worth the price of 35 Euro per person, which includes a singer and accordianist. It was perfect! The room we had (101) was the one pictured on venere and it looked just like the picture. The bathrooms were beautiful marble and included a bath/shower. Space was a bit tight, but definitely manageable. The breakfast room was small, but never fully packed when we were there in November. They only offered basic breakfast pastries, dry cereals and coffee, juices, but we're not big breakfast people so it was fine. We'd definitely stay here again.

Your response form should not follow the "do you want emails" question by asking what type one wants - I asked not to receive any and your forms won't close without my having answered these questions - I do not want any more email from you!!!! I found the hotel clean and convenient and I liked the small room. It was at the top on the back with a rooftop view. It was a quiet except for conversation for people waiting for the elevator, which was right across from the door. Although the staff was nice I thought they should have been better informed and should have been a lot more helpful; they said the room had an internet connection, which did not work and they were not helpful with this at all and they were too lazy to call to check on a rental car for me and simply told me all of the rental places opened at 9:00 and then they said 10:00 and would not call before this and I later learned they all opened at 8:00 by going there myself after having doubted their response. Location still made this a place I would probably return to, but for the price the staff should have been a lot more helpful.

Both the double and single room that we stayed in were comfortable, well furnished, large, clean and quiet. The hotel is in a good location, near St. Mark's Square. It has a lift and had information on fire exits (not something I've seen elsewhere in Venice!). We would stay there again.

Travellors could be a nickname for us as a couple ! Therefore, what I say comes from experience. VERY pleased with this hotel and all it has to offer its guests. We started by reviewing the reviews of several hotels in the area we desired and quickly noted the positive feedback on this hotel. Needless to say, every word stands for truth from their guests. Even the directions given were to the letter of ease. We loved the service and the more than up to par 3 star rating. If were not for the size of the room, this hotels services are a 5 star rating for all. Already,we have a friend booking to stay at this hotel and VERY comfortable offering this suggestion as a place to unwind and relax into sight seeing, etc. The continued best to this hotel and staff.

Highly recommended - we intend to stay here again next time we go to Venice. The staff also told us to look out for '4 nights for the price of 3' offers which come up on this website. The hotel was exceptionally quiet, even though only a short distance from St Mark's Square. Many of the smaller streets/alleys in Venice do not have names - so the address of this hotel - San Marco 2141 - is not a great deal of help when trying to find the place for the first time. DIRECTIONS: Get off the Vaporetto at the San Marco stop (also called Vallaresso) where you'll see Harry's Bar (14 euros for a Bellini by the way!) immediately in front of you on the right hand corner of a street. Walk straight ahead down that street. Turn left at the next junction, continue up to a square with a church, over the foot bridge and turn immediately left, through the portico of the Lisbona hotel, turn right in front of the hotel, then immediately left into a small alley that takes you to the little square where Anastasia is situated. If you like jazz, we'd recommend the Bacaro Jazz Club near Rialto for a meal or just a drink - it's open until the early hours. Not a lot of live music - mainly films of jazz concerts shown on a big screen.

Anastasia is a wonderful hotel and the stay was perfect. The staff couldn't have been more informative, competent and friendly. The location is great. Thank you all previous guests who provided such excellent directions to the hotel! Without them it'd been hard to find the hotel. (By the way, the vaporetto stop was now called San Marco instead of Vallaresso.)
