this hotel is really good. it is more than our extectation. they updraded our room to suite which is really fantastic, big bed with kitchen. the location is perfect. i love bayswater. it is only 5minute walk from the tube station. it is near to the park which i can do my jocking in the morning. i spent 5nights at the hotel(London). this hotel is the best amond 14 nights in the UK.

As a younger single traveller in London for the first time, this was a great place to stay. The location was further away from the tube than ideal (and there are only stairs at Bayswater station if you need to carry heavy luggage. Queensgate station is only a minute or two away from Bayswater fyi), but still very central (very cute neighbourhood, a minute away (North) is Westbourne Grove, which has many boutiques and restaurants). I stayed in a single room (203) and it was actually very spacious, with a lot of room to spread open your luggage and still be able to walk around. It was clean, the bed was nice, I had a great view looking out into the parkette, and the bathroom was fairly decent. And the TV worked with a few standard stations. I would definitely recommend especially for the price in comparison to what else is out there.

Hotel Umi represents good value for a London hotel, with relatively large rooms, given that most hotel rooms in London are shoeboxes! Amenities are OK; breakfast and Internet access is available for a fee. I arrived on Carnival weekend and was somewhat taken aback by the amount of alcohol-fuelled noise and disorderly behaviour in the Notting Hill area. Generally, the area does seem a little bit dodgy, but I didn't feel unsafe - however, I didn't really go out at night. The location is very convenient for the north side of London city, and the excellent Tube system means that you can get anywhere else easily. There is a wide variety of good restaurants in the area, Bayswater Station is about 10 minutes' walk away, and there is a laundromat down the road. Overall - excellent value for London.

I was happy about the size of the room. There was enough space to do my morning yoga routine (which is usually not the case in London hotels). Only slight annoyance for me was that floors were a bit squeaky.

The hotel is about 10 min walk from Bayswater station, not exactly very near but managable. The surroundings of the hotel is good but the 'thin walls' means that you hear noices from rooms above you and from the corridor. But its bearable as all is quiet after 1am and you can have a good sleep. As for the space of the room, it is acceptable as all London hotels are about the same size. But I must say that the bathroom is bigger than I thought, no problem with it.More imptly, the room is clean and all basic amenities like kettle, hair dryer, coffee maker are provided. There are restaurants and supermarkets and BOOTs along the Bayswater station so getting food is a breeze. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling to London.

top floor, small twin room desperately in need of makeover - jaded. sash window opened onto ledge strewn with dozens of cigarette butts. Bathroom with old, stained lino floor - bath panels similarly stained. Shower not fit for purpose - had to walk round to get wet! metal waste bin battered. Had to wait minutes for cistern to fill between flushes. Not good. Continental breakfast ok but strange tick four items ordering arrangement with betting shop pencil not great. short walk to Bayswater shopping area and tube so location fine but def wouldn't stay again

This is a find, a gem of a budget hotel in London! The room, though small as expected, is very comfortable, and certainly not a closet like another hotel I've previously stayed in London. It is in safe, clean, quiet, underground-accessible Westminster neighborhood. The hotel staff are superb - helpful, and courteous. There is a lift. There is a reliable internet service/computer workstation. I will reserve again when I return to London.

It's a good hotel. I used two stations, Bayswater and Queensway while staying. Both are near the hotel. It was very convenient. Also, there are a lot of restaurants, shops which open until mid-night. The room and its bed size is just a little small, but enough for Japanese like me. And at the hotel, it was available to connect my PC to Wi-Fi internet via service named 'Polka Spots'. I paid 3 GBP for an hour. And I can use this 60 minutes all without time regulation (For example, using within a day). It's a good system. Also, access speed was enough for business. I enjoyed my trip.

The Umi Hotel is in an excellent area of London, just a short walking distance to the Bayswater Station, closest tube access. There are an exceptional number of eating establishments and pubs nearby, and the prices for meals and beverages are reasonable for a city like London. The hotel itself is rather tired and could use an upgrade, but it is clean and comfortable and provides good value for what you pay. The best thing to ask for is a room in the back and on the upper floors to reduce noise both from other travellers and the creeky wooden floors. The breakfast area was quaint and pretty and the breakfast was reasonable both in quality and amount. Aside from a toilet that required a strongarm to flush, our experience at the Umi was pleasant.

We had two twin rooms, one of which was quite small, but clean and warm. the employees were very welcoming and caring. I stayed in a single room at the UMI hotel for 3 nights in October 2007 during my first visit to London on a weekend sightseeing trip. The room was fine and the bathroom and shower was very good although extremely small (the bathroom sink was in the normal room). The room had a wall-mounted Plasma TV but the digital TV broadcast didn't work so the TV was unusable. The continental breakfast was OK (very good coffee) but not really enough for me (only 1 muffin, 1 youghurt and 1 orange juice). I found the worst thing about the hotel was the squeaky floorpanels and the noise from the night life in the street (which can be really disturbing if you're looking for a good night's sleep). The hotel staff was friendly and most of them appeared to be from eastern europe which was a bit surprising to me.

Small, neat single room in an old building formerly known as the Wesminster Hotel. Great location, great price, clean, comfortable rooms and good staff. Generally a very well turned out place, with neat common areas and a reasonable restaurant to boot. Young, international, hostel type clientele, almost a flashpacker atmosphere (with added school groups). The noise, however, was unbearable. Not sure if it was just the room I was in but the noise from above was unbelieveable - every creaking floorboard sounded like an earthquake. Bizarre. On my last night I think I managed 2 and half hours of sleep. If you have ear plugs (or don't mind not sleeping much) well worth checking out; the noise was too much for me though.

Beds comfortable, room clean. Breakfast poor. The hotel is now called UMI, not Westminster. Service fine. We checked in at 11.30 am and were able to go to our room. Some updating of rooms would help - eg the shower control was very stiff, presumably because of limescale, and at least one electric point didn't work.

I had a single room at the front. The size was fine, if a little on the small size. Batroom was ok, except the wash basin is in the room. Noise was an issue, I was awoken at 6am the first morning and 6:30am the second from the street. Look for a room at the back. Apart from that though a very enjoyable experience. A good breakfast, 6 minute walk from the Bayswater tube station and an abundance of restaurants within 4 minutes walking distance. I will go back to the Westminster Hotel the next time I am in London.

This was our first stay at the Westminster Hotel, the rooms were a good size, beds coomfy pillows good and soft but the windows were dirty and couldn't be opened. The decor in the room was worn and tired and they could do with a spruce up even for a budget hotel. The staff at reception were very helpful and a lovely coffee shop but the smoking in the reception was offputting. The access to the web on the computers in reception was very helpful.

Pleased with all aspects, the room is tiny, no room to move about the bed perimeter. Service excellent, WC excellen. Pictures do represent room accurately, just seems smaller when you really see it. Don't bring a lot of baggage, barely room for two backpacks, but considering the cost of accommodations in London a great value , we would definitely return.

the room was O.K. though the price for the first five days was 20 pounds less (66) than for the last five days (86). First, London is expensive now for Americans. (1.76 $/LB) We stayed in three different places in England and they were all expensive. The Westminster was the cheapest. I was worried about the area based on information I had read in travel books, but was pleasantly surprised to find the area was fine. Lots of restaurants nearby and the tube station was within easy walking distance. We had a back room and it was very quiet. The room was more than adequate, but it was definitely not as nice as shown on the pictures. For example, the walls had places with water stains and the furniture was very rudimentary. The breakfast was better than I expected -- continental with boiled egg, lunch meats, etc. For 76 pounds it was a good (London) value. I would stay at the Westiminster again.

Many students live in the area. They usually make noise on the street at night (play music and so on). Cars driving around, people screaming at each other. This can be heard quiet well in the hotel rooms at the front of the hotel. This is the only thing we have a complaint about, we didn't sleep that well because of this.

A very nice hotel for a good price, good locations, and helpful staff. I needed an iron, and they came after 5 min!! The breakfast was good, and included in the price. I will absolutely come back next time I´m in London!!

Very good Hotel, kind and skilled personnel, good breakfast and breakfast-room. My room (single) was little but very nice and clean; the window's view is on the Leinster Square's private garden, so beautiful and peaceful! What, IMO, doesn't really work is the bathroom: really too small and too hot (also the room is too hot) even if compared with other hotels in London I stayed in. In the bathroom there's not enough space for the washbasin, it's located in the room! Besides this considerations, it's a very good hotel but, I think, only for short stays.

This hotel took a little bit of finding from the tibe station, it's approximately a five minute walk. Upon arrival my mum and i were informed that despite our reservation all of the twin rooms were occupied and that we had been upgraded to the honeymmon suite! This room was very spacious and the bed was enormous, however standard rooms appeared quite small. fantastic hot shower and shower gel etc were supplied. There was a good selection of food at Breakfast and a full english is on offer for an extra £3. Staff were helpful and the hotel was of a good standard. I would recommend this to others.

We booked two double rooms and when we arrived were told that we had one twin and two singles! The problem was rectified the next day and we were compensated for the problem. The cold water tap ran hot most of the time. Other than that the hotel was fine.

Easily walkable from the Nr.148 bus around Hyde Park area. A very reasonable price, by London's sky-high standards. Nice, bright dining room for breakfast. Even though we arrived before check-in time, there was no problem with stowing our luggage at the hotel so we could get on with our visit.

Ottimo albergo, eccellente posizione.

Nice Venue in a quiet area, close to Paddington and just 5 min walk to Tube station. The room was small, but sufficient.

I was pleasantly surprised as soon as I opened the door to my room. The room was clean, and thats just about all that matters to me. The bathroom was quite spacious, also a plus. The staff was prefessional in all the dealings I had with them. The included breakfast was better than whats normal in hotels in this part of London. I have already referred the hotel to friends, and will definately come back. Good value for its pricerange (the webrate, that is).

We stayed here 2 nights. First, on our stopover between the US and Italy and again on our way back to the US. Is a nice hotel... rooms were quite small, but not uncommon for London. They were tidy and quite comfortable. Our first room looked as it may have been reciently remodeled. We couldn't figure out how to turn the water cooler so had extreamly hot showers. The second room was on the 6th floor... which you had to reach by taking the lift to the 5th floor and lugging your luggage up the stairs to the 6th floor. This room was a bit older. The hotel was very conviently located to the Underground and Heathrow (via the Heathrow express). Good continental breakfast with optional traditional English breakfast for a small charge. The staff was very helpful. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

I had asked for a 2 twin bed room. Their record indicated reservations were for 1 double bed room. Twin rooms were not available so we were given what they said was a triple twin bed room. Turned out it had four twin beds, 4th floor, end of hall. There was a little noise outside from the youth hostel down the street. The noise was not bad just a little annoying. Hotel was quiet at the end of the hall. The staff was very accomodiating.

The location of the hotel is excellent, it's very close to the shopping centre and you can easily get a bus or a train to any place you want in London. The price is very good as well and the staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful which I did not find in many other hotels in the UK.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we discovered our room because usually there is a signifcant difference between the pictures of hotels' Site and the room we actually get. Despite the lift didn't go till the upper floor (where our room was), the room was big, clean and quite. The staff was very competent and provided us very useful advices to visit London but also to find nice restaurants in the surroundings of the hotel. With regard to the quality and the location of the hotel, the prices (taken into account the Venere's discount) were very interesting and included an excellent buffet breakfast. In conclusion, I will recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is just 5 min. walking to the Hyde Park, Queensway for a shopping. Breakfast is the most things I like in the hotel. Only one thing that the elevator was sometimes not working otherwise the stuff is so friendly and I will reserve in the same hotel next time.

THE RATES WERE WONDERFUL. WE PAID £60 INSTEAD OF £120 BUT IN FACT THE ROOM WAS VERY SMALL AND NOT RENOVATED , THE BATHROOM WAS OLD AND NOT VERY CLEAN. I THINK THAT EVERYTHING YOU CAN SEE AT THE BEGINNING LIKE THE RECEPTION, THE BREAKFAST ROOM, THE BAR (ALL THESES ROOMS ARE AT THE GROUND FLOOR) ARE CLEAN, PRETTY...BUT THE GOOD RATE IS NOT FOR THE GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL BEDROOM.

A very nice hotel with excellent breakfast. The rooms are a little small but as you don´t go to London to stay in a hotel room they´re o.k. The location is peaceful but just a few minutes away from Central London via Underground. We will come again.I´ve already recommended the Westminster to friends.

The location of the hotel is non-touristy and quiet. The photo of the hotel on the website is much more attractive than the actual hotel. The staff members were always polite and helpful. The room and bathroom were quite small. The furniture and beds were older and took up most of the space in the room (limited space to move around in). The breakfast room downstairs was pleasant and the selection of food was adequate. There really was no "restaurant" in the hotel -- only a room next to the reception area, where, we were told by staff, food could be served. We didn't eat there because it did not look like a "real" restaurant; nor did we ever see other guests eating there. Fortunately there are a lot of restaurants and pubs nearby. The TV was tiny. The nearest Tube station is a 10-minute walk. There is a laundry mat a couple blocks away. A safe deposit box is available for a fee and easy to use. The lobby had comfortable sofas and we used the computers (2 available) to check our Email.

The staff was limitated due to a illness. According to this we got our rooms not before the late afternoon. The information politics would have been better, if the receptionist had told us, that the rooms would not been available until the evenings. The room was very good, the staff very friendly, and the relationship beetween the price and the quality very good. If I come back to London I will stay again in the "Westminister Hotel". But then I come to the hotel defintely in the evening.

Although specifically asked for a double bed got twin beds, and the lift does not go to the 5th floor - have to get off at 4th and walk remainder. But overall would recommend this hotel.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By train
From the Victoria Train Station: take the underground to Bayswater Station, from there turn left onto Queensway, take the first left into Moscow Road and then the second right into Ilchester Gardens and walk down towards Princess Square. After passing Princess Square the Leinster Square is on the left.

By airplane
Take the Airport Express or any other train service to Victoria Station. From there, take the London Underground Circle Line to Bayswater.
